Did you know 95% of your decisions are made without conscious thought?
This issue explores how your brain is wired for autopilot—and how to reclaim control by rewiring your subconscious mind.
🧠 The Elite Idea: 95% of decisions in your life are automated
You don’t actually think your way through 95% of your day.
Sounds wild, but it’s true. Neuroscience shows that only about 5% of our actions and decisions are conscious—the rest happen subconsciously, shaped by your past experiences and default programming.
Your prefrontal cortex, the part responsible for logical reasoning and decision-making, is tiny and energetically expensive. So your brain delegates most tasks to the subconscious—a highly efficient but deeply conditioned system that runs your life on autopilot.
That means:
👉 Your thoughts, reactions, and behaviors are mostly based on who you were, not who you want to be.
👉 If you don’t interrupt the autopilot, you’ll keep reliving the same patterns, beliefs, and outcomes.
The real power move? Learning to observe and rewire those subconscious loops—so you can consciously create a life that aligns with your highest potential.
🔍 Inside My Mind: Awareness is power
This insight was a game-changer for me.
When I first learned that the subconscious runs the show, it explained so much—why I kept procrastinating on things I said I cared about, or why I would shrink in certain conversations even when I knew better. It wasn’t logic failing me—it was old programming.
Once I started paying attention to the patterns and getting curious (instead of critical), I began seeing where I was living by default rather than by design.
And that’s when I realized: Awareness is power.
You can’t change what you don’t see. But once you do see it? You get to choose differently.
🧬 Integrate It: SNS framework
Try The SNS Framework: subconscious pattern disruptor:
- S → Spot It:
Identify one automatic reaction you’ve had this week—maybe getting defensive in a meeting or doubting your abilities before taking a risk.
Ask: Where have I felt this before? What does this remind me of? - N → Name It:
Give the pattern a name: “The Inner Critic,” “People Pleaser,” “Perfectionist Mode,” etc. Naming it helps you separate from it. - S → Shift It:
Ask yourself:
“What would I do if I weren’t on autopilot?”
Then try a new response—no matter how small. That’s where rewiring begins.
You’re not stuck. Your subconscious is just well-practiced.
And the best news? Practice works both ways.
So…
Are you ready to take back control?
The power is already in your mind. You just need to learn how to use it on purpose.
